Come along, catch up with your buddies from the shows you’ve been in, and have your vote on the new committee members, maybe even get nominated yourself!! Start thinking about it now…

Do you want to be a sweet committee member and have heaps of fun organising events, coming to meetings and doing jobs?? President, Treasurer, Secretary, and all committee positions are up for grabs – commitment is essential!

We’ll hopefully be announcing the 2011 Summer Musical, and we’re hoping The Sinnerman DVD will be ready in time to have a look too!

Get down to the Shelley Common Room at the UCSA on Wednesday 18th August at 7.30pm!

Be there!

Musoc is proud to present the Ballantynes season of The Sinnerman!  It’s a devilish journey through the seductive worlds of Jazz and Power.  Wrath and Jealousy, Lust and Pride – A simple southern boy becomes a wicked jazz trumpeter.

The Sinnerman will be amazing – don’t miss out!

In other news, Glee Club has been on PlainsFM, and has appearances lined up for TV3 news, and children’s TV show What Now!  Head on over to the facebook group to keep up with when and where rehearsals are happening, and get involved.  It’s so much less work than being in a big musical, but keeps you singing and dancing and getting to know folks.

But if you are interested in full scale musicals – THIS WEEK is when we’re taking proposals for shows for next year.  They’re due Wednesday 14 July at 5pm.  If you’re really desperate to propose a musical, and you’ve been caught off guard by the rapid advance of the deadline, flick an email to me at secretary@musoc.org.nz and I’ll see if I can arrange an extension for you.  If you’re interested, we’ve got a pretty awesome proposal guide right here.

SeriouslyGoodMuffinsAhoy there Musoc friends- it’s time for Musoc’s very Special General Meeting!

It’s not only a chance to join the super-hero Musoc Exec team and make your move to take over the world, but also a chance to eat some Seriously Good Muffins! (Yep, we’re bribing you all to make sure we get quorum).

We’ve got a couple of exec members stepping down that we’ll need to re-elect- one general member and a Treasurer. We’ll also be looking at making a couple of wee changes to the constitution and eating delicious, delicious baked goods.

Lastly, we’ll be giving you a quick rundown on the last six months of musical theatre goodness, what we’re planning over the next few months, and calling for proposals for next year’s first show!!!

So come on down, catch up with your buddies from the shows you’ve been in, support your mates in running for the exec, and indulge in some good old-fashioned home baking. You can even bring a plate if you like.

We’re looking forward to seeing you all down there!

This year promises to be a fantastic year for Musoc, with two major musical productions, as well as many other workshops and social events.  We’ve finished casting for our March production of Reefer Madness and we’re really really excited about how things are shaping up – the read-through was fantastic and rehearsals are getting underway!

Happy New Reefer Year

A big thanks to all those who attended the Rocky Horror Experience on 29th May! Photos will be posted here later this week! If you have any, email them to us at (admin at musoc dot org dot nz)! Don’t be shy now!

Musical Nights!
While we’re waiting to do another show, we’ll be continuing to hold Musical Nights- at least one a term, where we watch and celebrate some of our favourite musical films! It would be great to see you all there, especially the old gang! If you have any suggestions for nights to come, feel free to email us at the above address…

The next Musical Night will be held on July 31st… we won’t tell you what it will be yet, but here’s a hint: it’s going to be a MUSICAL MOVIE MARATHON – we’ll be watching both the original and the recent re-make of a certain marvellous musical, back-to-back! Stay tuned for more details!

Proposals!
We now have a couple of proposals for Musicals both this year and next year, and some expressions of interest from people wanting to be involved on in production teams, but we’re still taking proposals for shows for the end of this year, and for the beginning of next year, so anyone with an idea, and anyone (experience not required) interested in being on production teams should contact Merryn, Club President at president@musoc.org.nz!
