About
Musoc is the University of Canterbury Musical Theatre Society!
We’re a university club with 40 years’ experience performing kick-ass musicals. As well as big stage shows, we also run social events, interventionalist theatre (i.e. musical flashmobs!), and performance workshops.
Technically speaking, we’re a not-for-profit incorporated society, affiliated to the University of Canterbury Students’ Association. Musoc has been around since approximately 1969 and has been producing musical theatre since around 1972.
Musoc encourages people to try out all aspects of theatre from performing on stage to helping out backstage doing things such as costumes, props, stage managing and crewing.
It also encourages people to direct, produce and take part in any aspect of musical theatre including writing and staging their own musicals. Musoc has a proud history of performing original musicals written by locals, not to mention as well known international shows!
We welcome new members anytime, no experience necessary. If you’d like to get involved, or join our mailing list to keep up with what’s happening, let us know, by emailing Matt at secretary@musoc.org.nz.
