Thanks to everyone who came along to the Hairspray PJ Party!

We had a great time singing along, drinking hot chocolate, and laughing at the old version. I don’t actually think anyone was wandering around with a camera – but if anyone has photos they’d like us to put up, just send them to events@musoc.org.nz and we can through them up on the gallery page.

Upcoming events!

The Ballroom Brawl

brawlWe’ve organised a stage-fighting workshop – learn how to look like you’re beating up your friends, without any of those pesky assault charges! These tips will be especially useful if you’re thinking of joining in with a Musoc production – I know Reefer Madness has at least one fighting scene.

We’re also trying to organise some singing and dancing workshops, so keep your eyes peeled for details.

23 September – Annual General Mayhem!

agmThis is your opportunity to get really involved with Musoc. There will be fun and games and singing and dancing and food and more! Sadly, about half the current Musoc committee are finishing up at university and running away from Christchurch, which means there is a fantastic opportunity for YOU to get involved on the committee. It’s probably one of the most fun committees to be on at University. Also, as somewhere in the last 5 years the constitution has been lost, we have reverted back to the basic UCSA constitution, which is rubbish and has no Musical Theatre specific details. The current committee is knocking up a whole host of amendments which will hopefully make the constitution work far better – please come and make your views on these heard.

We’re going to keep the ‘business end’ of the meeting short and snappy – getting all the things that must be done out of the way so we can eat, drink, and make very very merry. Book this evening onto your calendars right now!

2 October – Reefer Madness Movie Night (with brownies!)

As you may have seen, in March next year we will be putting on Reefer Madness the musical in the Ngaio Marsh theatre. In preparation for Musoc’s first actual production in a couple of years, we’re going to watch the film version to get ourselves in the mood. It’s a great opportunity to find out what it’s all about, suss out a character for yourself, start getting the songs into your head, and Merryn has agreed to bring brownies!

If you’re interested in being involved in the production of Reefer Madness, check out the ‘Get Involved‘ page – we’re still looking for a producer, and audition details for cast and musos will go up there soon.

We’re now looking for people to get involved on the production team for our next stage musical! Could this be YOU?head-silhouette-with-question-markAnyone (experience not required) interested should get in touch, preferably by the end of August! See the Get Involved page for more info!
